Meet the Manager: Daniel Allen
As long as he can recall, Utah native Daniel Allen has loved trees. In fact, the first time he remembers the frightening experience of getting the wind knocked out of him was at 4 years old; when he got stung by a bee and fell a short distance while attempting to climb a massive cottonwood in front of his home.
This love of trees/nature was the fundamental motive when he donned an old green Kelty and thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 2007. And it seems that, somehow, this experience is what solidified his resolve to be a ‘tree nerd’ for life.
From there, it wasn’t long until Daniel found himself in Utah State’s College of Natural resources, pursuing a degree in Forestry. This is where he discovered that people can actually get paid to climb trees! His was the great privilege to learn arboriculture from one of the best, past UCFC president and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®, Ben Harris.
More recently, Daniel served as Urban Forester for the Utah DNR, where he taught and assisted multiple communities in all things tree. There he also achieved his longstanding goal of obtaining the same ISA credential as his mentor Ben.
In January 2020 Daniel was elected to be a UCFC board member, and shortly afterwards was introduced to SuperTrees. Because SuperTrees gets to the root (pun intended) of a critical issue in tree care, namely poor stock improperly planted, it was a natural fit for Daniel climb aboard, thus expanding and improving his advocacy for trees in Utah.

The Value of Trees
“Trees are the answer.” You’ve probably seen that cliche on a bumper sticker somewhere. But, have you really ever stopped to think of just how important and valuable trees are? From the oxygen you just took in, to the walls and roof of your home; and from the juicy apple you recently enjoyed, to a 15% boost in your property value, trees are constantly benefiting us. It’s no wonder they hold such a place in our hearts and lore. But, like anything of value, trees need routine maintenance to perform at their best for the greatest amount of time. That’s where we come in.
