Mesa Glow Maple
The Mesa Glow Maple (Acer grandidentatum ‘JFS-NUMex3’) is a relatively newly patented cultivar of Bigtooth Maple created by Rolston St. Hilaire at New Mexico State University. This cultivar is known for its hardiness, tolerance to drought, and ability to grow in a variety of soil types.
The Mesa Glow Maple is a smaller tree than its parent species and its branches grow more upright. This tough little tree is a great option for an urban environment as it is tolerant to poor conditions and can also be a good choice as a yard tree, either standing alone or blended with other trees into the landscape. Its leaves turn a beautiful red-to-orange in the fall, and it grows well in either partial or full sun.
