Armstrong Gold® Maple

The Armstrong Gold® Maple (Acer rubrum ‘JFS-KW78’) is a medium-sized tree that is very narrow and columnar in its growing habits. Its leaves are a handsome dark green in the summer, but this tree is known for its foliage in the fall. As the summer ends the leaves begin to turn to an outstanding shade of orange that can brighten up any park, yard, or street.

The Armstrong Gold® Maple was selected at J. Frank & Sons Co. from an Armstrong Red Maple’s seedling. It differs from its parent species in its more compact, narrow form and brighter fall colors. It makes a great option for a street tree or near a driveway or building due to its narrow form. This tree does well in partial shade or full sun and can withstand most soil conditions.
