Fireglow Japanese Maple
The Fireglow (Acer palmatum ‘Fireglow’) is a very sun and heat tolerant Japanese maple. Named for its deep red foliage that turns bright fiery red in the fall, this small-sized tree is well-branched with a broad crown. It does not get as big as the Bloodgood, but is still broad and dense enough to provide shade or cover to a small patio or courtyard from a garden or container. The Fireglow Japanese Maple was developed by the Fratelli Gilardelli Nursery outside of Milan, Italy. Slower-growing but quite vigorous, it will do well in a variety of soil types.
